Installing IBR Advisor (Free)

Download the plugin Get the latest version from WordPress.org or from your purchase email.
Install via WordPress Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, then select the ZIP file and click Install Now.
Activate Click Activate Plugin after installation. This creates 5 database tables automatically.
Configure Go to IBR Advisor → Settings and enter your OpenRouter API key.
Start using Go to IBR Advisor → Launchpad and start researching products.

✅ Success You should now see "IBR Advisor" in your WordPress admin sidebar with 5 tabs: Launchpad, My Projects, Watchlist, Analytics, and Settings.

Installing IBR Advisor Pro

⚠️ Requires Free Version IBR Advisor Pro is an add-on. You must install the Free version first.

Verify Free is active Confirm that "IBR Advisor" is installed and activated on your site.
Upload the Pro ZIP Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, select ibr-advisor-pro.zip, and click Install Now.
Activate Pro Click Activate Plugin. You should see a new menu item: IBR Advisor → IBR Advisor Pro License.
Enter license key See the next section for activation instructions.

Activating Your Pro License

Open the License page Go to IBR Advisor → IBR Advisor Pro License.
Enter your license key Paste the key you received by email (format: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX).
Click Activate The plugin validates the key with our license server.
Confirm activation You should see a green ● Active status with your domain and expiry date.

💡 Grace Period If the license server is unreachable, your license stays active for 7 days. This protects you from temporary network outages.

Managing your license

From the same License page you can:

Re-validate Now — Force a fresh check with the server.
Deactivate License — Free the license for use on another site.

Configuring the OpenRouter API Key

IBR Advisor uses OpenRouter to access AI models. You need your own API key.

Get your API key

Sign up at openrouter.ai (free, includes free credits).
Go to Keys → openrouter.ai/keys.
Create a new key and copy it (starts with sk-or-v1-).

Add the key to WordPress

Go to IBR Advisor → Settings.
Paste the key in the API Key field.
Click Save, then Test.
You should see "✅ API key works."

🔒 Your key is encrypted Your API key is encrypted with AES-256-GCM using keys derived from your WordPress AUTH_KEY and AUTH_SALT. It never leaves your server in plaintext.

Choosing an AI Model

IBR Advisor supports multiple AI models via OpenRouter. In Settings, choose your preferred model:

💡 Tip Gemini 2.0 Flash is the fastest and most reliable option for everyday use. Choose premium models only when you need deep analysis.

Uploading Your Brand Logo

Personalize your experience by adding your company logo to the sidebar.

Go to IBR Advisor → Launchpad.
In the left sidebar, click "📸 Click to upload".
Select an image from your Media Library or upload a new one.
Click Use this logo.

Your logo will appear in:

The admin sidebar
The frontend Shortcode (for logged-in users)

The Launchpad

The Launchpad is your starting point. You can:

Find products by niche

Enter a Niche (e.g., "Fitness", "Home Decor", "Pet Accessories").
Select a Country.
Click Search.

Load trending products

Click the 📈 Trends box to load trending dropshipping products immediately.

Understanding results

Each product card shows:

Product name and short description
Score badge (0-100) — higher is better
Sales estimate
Margin
Competition level (Low / Medium / High)
Source (where the data comes from)

Actions per product

👁 View — Open calculator and generate report.
⭐ Watch — Add to your Watchlist.
🔍 AliExpress — Search AliExpress for suppliers.

💡 Quick Filter Click ⚡ Filter Top 3 after loading products to see your winners automatically.

Each report has a Market Readiness Score (0-100) broken down into 5 components:

Shortcode (Frontend Display)

Display the entire IBR Advisor interface on any frontend page or post using a shortcode.

Basic usage

By default, only Administrators (manage_options) can see this.

Allow logged-in users

[ibr_smart_advisor role="read"]

Any logged-in user (customer, subscriber, contributor) can use the tool. Great for customer dashboards.

Custom roles

[ibr_smart_advisor role="edit_posts"]

Any WordPress capability works: edit_posts, publish_posts, manage_options, etc.

⚠️ Security note In the frontend, the Brand Logo is read-only and cannot be changed by users.

Troubleshooting

API Key issues

Symptom: "API key invalid" when clicking Test.

Ensure the key starts with sk-or-v1-.
Remove any spaces at the start or end.
Check credit balance at openrouter.ai/credits.
Try a different model in Settings.

"Critical error" when saving

Symptom: Red box saying "There has been a critical error".

Enable WP_DEBUG in wp-config.php.
Check wp-content/debug.log for the exact error.
Contact support with the log excerpt.

Slow report generation

Symptom: Report takes more than 60 seconds.

Switch to Gemini 2.0 Flash in Settings (fastest).
Check your server's outbound HTTPS speed.
Try again — OpenRouter occasionally has peak hours.

License not activating

Symptom: "Connection to license server failed".

Verify your server allows outbound HTTPS.
Try the license page again in 1 minute.
Contact support with your domain name.

WooCommerce Draft not appearing

Symptom: Button is grayed out.

Confirm WooCommerce is installed and activated.
Create at least one product manually to verify WC is working.
Refresh the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an OpenRouter account?

Yes. Create a free account at openrouter.ai and generate an API key. OpenRouter includes free credits for new accounts, and some models are completely free.

Is my API key secure?

Yes. Your API key is encrypted with AES-256-GCM using keys derived from your WordPress AUTH_KEY and AUTH_SALT. The encrypted key never leaves your server in plaintext.

Can I use IBR Advisor on multiple sites?

Each WordPress site needs its own OpenRouter key. The Pro license is per-site unless you purchase a multi-site plan.

What happens if I deactivate Pro?

The Free limits are restored instantly (3 projects, 10 watchlist items, 20 AI calls/month). Your data is preserved. Reactivating Pro restores unlimited access.

Does the plugin work with WooCommerce?

WooCommerce Draft is available in Pro. The plugin itself works on any WordPress site, but you need WooCommerce to use the Draft feature.

Does the plugin collect any data?

No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking. The plugin only communicates with OpenRouter (for AI) and our license server (for Pro validation).

What happens to my data if I uninstall?

By default, your data is preserved. To permanently delete all data, enable "Delete all data on uninstall" in Settings before deleting the plugin.

Can I use it on client websites?

Yes, with an Agency or multi-site license. Contact support for bulk pricing.

How do I get updates?

Free updates come through WordPress.org automatically. Pro updates come through our license server — you'll see the update notification in Plugins just like WordPress.org plugins.
